SPENCER INSULATION SSAB / ALUZINC
Aluzinc is a 55% aluminium, 43.4% zinc and 1.6% silicon, double-sided coating applied to a steel substrate in a continuous hot dip process, creating an attractive, corrosion resistant «brilliant silver» finish that retains its appearance in a thin layer aluminum oxide that forms on the top surface.
If the coating is damaged, scratched, or cut, the zinc (through cathodic protection) prevents oxygen and moisture from reaching the steel surface, providing 2 to 4 times greater corrosion resistance than conventional galvanized coating.
SSAB/Aluzinc jacketed pipes have been independently tested for fire resistance along with Stucco aluminum sheet, aluminum foil, PVC and butyl rubber jacket — a typical hydrocarbon fire does not reach the melting point of steel, aluminum melts at 660°C…within a 30 minute minute test Petrochem Dobelshield® remained intact, protecting the insulation and piping.
